Usage Tracking

When you opt in to usage tracking, SeedProd collects a small set of technical data about your server and site environment. This information is used solely to improve the plugin — helping the team understand which hosting environments, WordPress versions, and plugins to test against, and to identify and resolve compatibility issues faster.

Usage tracking data syncs once per week. Below is the complete list of what is collected and why.

Data Collected

  • PHP Version: Used to determine which PHP versions the team needs to test against to prevent errors and compatibility issues.
  • WordPress Version: Used to determine which WordPress versions to support and test against.
  • MySQL Version: Used to ensure compatibility with different database versions, particularly for SeedProd’s custom database tables.
  • SeedProd Version: Used to identify which plugin versions may be connected to bug reports, allowing the team to pinpoint and fix issues more quickly.
  • Web Server Software: The SERVER_SOFTWARE PHP variable, combined with an internal SeedProd setting, is used to determine which web hosting companies are most commonly used. This helps the team maintain test accounts with the most popular hosts and identify server configuration conflicts.
  • Theme and Plugin Names and Versions: Used to identify which themes and plugins are most widely used alongside SeedProd, so the team can prioritize compatibility testing.
  • License Key, Email, and Site URL: For SeedProd customers, this information is used to diagnose issues with specific license keys and to link a site’s configuration to its authentication profile for troubleshooting.
  • SeedProd Settings: Used to understand which settings are actively used, helping the team decide where to invest in future improvements and which areas are underutilized.
  • Site and User Count, Multisite Status: Used to gauge the importance of supporting specific multisite configurations and to inform server capacity planning for features that scale with user counts.
  • Usage Tracking Configuration: Records when the next scheduled data sync will occur (once per week), allowing the team to manage server load for the usage tracking system.

No personally identifiable information is included in usage tracking data. If you have questions about how this data is handled, refer to the SeedProd Privacy Policy.
